“Cheesecakeless pair” – sometimes one letter can change everything.
In rowing, Polish term „dwójka bez sternika” means literally „coxless pair” – two people rowing and steering on their own. We decided to drop the letter “t”, and that’s how “Dwójka bez sernika” was born, which describes a „Cheesecakeless pair”. The podcast is not about rowing, but about life – with humor, distance, and reflection. The show is hosted by Paweł Ptaszyński and Magda Mikołajczyk. They talk about everyday life, mindfulness, mental health, and slowing down in a world that moves too fast. It’s a space to breathe, to listen, and to focus on what really matters.
The new sound design
Basically our task was to create a complete sound identity for the show – light, authentic, and warm. The full package includes eight audio elements:
- two versions of the intro
- two outros
- four sweepers used interchangeably in different episodes.
Above all each part was designed to fit naturally with the hosts’ conversations. Soft music and tones build a calm background, while subtle voiceover provided by Anna Paliga bring a friendly and uplifting atmosphere.
The creative process
Certainly we wanted listeners to feel the mood of the show from the very first seconds. We selected music that complements their tone of voice without taking over the message. Undoubtedly maintaining sonic consistency across episodes was the key – the audience should always recognize the familiar, cozy vibe of the podcast. The new sound design for “Dwójka bez sernika” became the podcast’s audio signature. Light, thoughtful, and warm – just like the conversations between Magda and Paweł. It’s a great example of how well-crafted sound can highlight a show’s personality and help connect with its audience.
